About Us

Who We Are

UPGC is
a Community

We are a rural community church that seeks to be a faithful witness of Jesus Christ to the people around us.  Our goal is to glorify God and make disciples of Jesus Christ. We do that by proclaiming the truth of God’s Word in our preaching and teaching, and loving our neighbors however we can.  We aren’t perfect, but the One we follow and trust is.

Gospel

We believe God made humans good, but we went bad.  This turning away from God is something all of us do naturally.  The Bible calls it sin, and in all of its forms it is an offense against God.  This Holy God doesn’t overlook injustice, and so offenders deserve punishment. In His perfect justice and loving mercy, the Judge handed down the mandatory death sentence, and then endured the punishment Himself.  Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, came to earth, lived a sinless life, and was executed on a cross, taking the punishment that sinners deserved. Three days later he rose from the dead, defeating sin and death. Because of what He did, undeserved favor is offered to everyone.  Through repentance and faith sinners may receive the gift of eternal life. Repenting, or changing our minds about how good we really are, and faith, or trusting in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, is an amazing gift offered to sinners by God. That is good news! That is the gospel!

Our Community

It all began in a home in February 1976. The 22 believers present agreed to contact Village Missions about beginning a work in Rose Prairie. The first pastor family arrived August 15, 1976 and services were held in the Upper Pine School.Land was purchased in 1978 and construction began on the church building. The building was dedicated on June 1, 1980. There have been many firsts over the years, and five Village Missions pastors have served here. The programs and events started years ago have continued: Awana, Seniors’ Banquet, Sunday School, Play Group, Men’s & Ladies Bible Studies and other community social events. Several of the missionaries UPGC started supporting at the beginning are still being supported today. June 1, 2016 a 40 year celebration of God’s blessings was held.
